About AIPLITL

The South African Association of Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology Law Teachers and Researchers [AIPLITL] was formed in 2016. 

The aims of AIPLITL are to:


  • further the teaching and study of, and research on, intellectual property law and information technology law;
  • regularly present congresses in order to discuss intellectual property law and information technology law, and related matters;
  • publish a journal on intellectual property law and information technology law;
  • encourage contact and co-operation between local and foreign intellectual property law and information technology law teachers, researchers, societies, and other interested organisations;
  • promote the development of public policy and regulatory reform in the fields of intellectual property law and information technology law; and
  • perform any act necessary to realize the above aims.


Membership to AIPLITL is open to any person who is involved in teaching and researching intellectual property law and/or information technology law, or who can show an active interest in these fields.
